Landfill Mechanic

The Knox County Landfill is accepting applications until 4:00PM on January 7, 2025, for a Mechanic.  Candidate must be able to repair, maintain, and service heavy equipment, over the road tractor-trailers, roll-off trucks, roll-off boxes, pick up trucks, mowers, tractors, pumps, and all other Landfill equipment.  Additional duties consist of changing and repairing tires, cleaning equipment, keeping records of all service and repairs, and other duties as assigned.  Diesel certification is preferred, but experience will be considered.  Applicants will be subject to a background check and pre-employment drug test.  The starting salary is $29.87 an hour.  Applications may be picked up at the Knox County Landfill.  Applications may also be found on the Knox County website.  Please mail applications and or resume to:

County Freedom of Information Officer

The Knox County Board is accepting applications for the position of Freedom of Information Officer for Knox County, Illinois.  This is an exempt position under the general supervision of the Knox County Board.  The position will handle all aspects of requests for information under the Illinois FOIA Act.  Successful applicants should have experience with Microsoft Office products along with previous customer service experience.  A minimum of an Associate’s degree beneficial, but not required.  The successful candidate shall be required to obtain certification by the State of Illinois as a Freedom of Information Officer within 6 months of hiring.  The starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.  This is a full-time position and is eligible for all benefits as allowed by the Knox County Personnel Policy.  Applicants will be subject to a pre-employment drug test and background check.  Applications can be picked up at the Knox County Clerk’s office or online from the County website.
